Caught in a complex tangle between lovesick poet and misanthropic nomad, Crywolf’svast cinematic landscapes and sehnsucht-filled melodies often pull at a listeners’ sanity as much as their heartstrings.

The primary project of Justin Taylor Phillips, a producer, vocalist, and multi instrumentalist from Los Angeles, CA, Crywolf was one of the first pioneers of the “Post-EDM” movement. His intimate, melodic, avant-garde releases have garnered their own unique following, with a loyalty rarely seen in the world of electronic music, solidifying his spot as one of the electronic world’s most enduring and compelling artistic talents.

His releases are no stranger to commercial success either; met with support from international acts such as Ellie Goulding, Skrillex, and more, and covered by major media outlets such as Billboard, Vice, and DJ Magazine. His albums have all charted in the top 3 on itunes, and many have also secured spots on Billboard, with his first fulllength “Cataclasm” sticking in the Electronic chart’s top ten for two weeks.

“exuvium [OBLIVIØN Pt. II]”, a followup to “widow [OBLIVIØN Pt. I]”, is a genre-bendingjourney through an apocalyptic particle accelerator, splitting the line between euphoric crescendos and melancholic despair to its thinnest, almost indistinguishable form. An experience so unlike any auditory other-the album seems completely untethered to the preconceived notions or rules that have bound works before it.

His newest release, ‘let me be your womb’, is a comedown from the insanity of his OBLIVIØN series, a soft moment for listeners to escape into to feel safe and known, where time itself seems to halt and the world becomes beautifully and perfectly still. A collection of ethereal lullabies and cascading rock anthems, with soft near-silent moments building to the epic grandiosity that Crywolf is known for. A blend of vulnerability and introspection sure to resonate with anyone who has opened themselves up to another, it warmly embraces those even in the midst of an apocalypse.
