Maia Kamil
From folk to R&B, Maia uses her voice like a jazz instrumentalist weaving in and out of her soulful melodies.
Maia Kamil is a singer-songwriter based in Winston Salem, NC. She is affectionately known for her warm vocals, spiritual center, and ease with stepping into multiple styles of music.
With her effortless and welcoming presence, Maia’s music is an invitation to form community and create deep human connection. She seamlessly connects cultures and music genres in innovative ways.
“Her voice moves like the Sea of Galilee, where she spent years growing up and refining songs that blend her mystical lyrics with choir-style harmonies.”
Maia moved to North Carolina in 2020 to pursue music after getting a degree in Ethnomusicology from Bard College in Annandale, New York. She is a recent recipient of a Greensboro Arts Council grant and finally recorded her debut album Good Life, featuring artists such as Charlie Hunter and Victoria Victoria. True to the essence of Maia Kamil and her music, the album was recorded in community with her closest friends down the street from her Winston-Salem home. Each song is a little world for her listeners to get lost in.
